Managing Day to Day Health Care

Items to Consider

One of your most important roles may be monitoring and managing the health of your loved one. Here are some instructions for making these tasks more manageable.

  1. Maintain an up to date list of medications and dosages.
  2. Periodically review the medication list with medical professionals and/or pharmacists for possible drug interactions.
  3. Discard old medications or encourage your loved one to do so.
  4. Monitor your loved one’s ability to manage his/her own medications.
  5. Keep emergency procedures and health care contact information in a visible location.
  6. Post special medical instructions in visible locations (e.g., dietary restrictions, instructions for special medical equipment, Do Not Resuscitate form).
