With generous funding from the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago's Fund for Innovations in Health, Retirement Research Foundation, and the Joseph H. and Belle R. Braun Fund, CJE SeniorLife and Terra Nova Films are excited to provide you with the CAREgivinghelp website. Our mission is to improve the overall caregiving experience.
Our goal is to provide caregivers with educational materials and resources that are applicable to many different caregiving situations. In order to help caregivers maximize the quality of care they can offer while also minimizing the risk of “caregiver burnout,” we have designed our educational modules and web pages around the most challenging aspects of caregiving. We anticipate that you and your loved one will benefit from your experience with this website.

Terra Nova Films in Chicago is the world leader in the production and distribution of films dedicated exclusively to aging and caregiving issues.
Terra Nova partnership role in this stage of the CJE SeniorLife’s E-Care project represents the first phase of a multi-stage initiative to reformat portions of its extensive video library of training tapes and educational materials for delivery to wider audiences via computer digitization and video streaming. This initiative represents a groundbreaking advancement for providing educational visual resources to the aging and caregiving field, enabling professional groups and individuals to access video information where they might not have been able to in the past.
In its design, the initiative is meant to provide community-based caregivers of the elderly with “on-demand” resources and information to assist them in caregiving, improve quality of life for older care recipients, decrease caregiver burden, and increase caregivers’ self-confidence regarding their ability to care for their loved ones. When completed, the initiative will have the potential to be incorporated into programs reaching millions of people around the world, through collaborations ranging from colleges and universities to area agencies on aging to community-based aging initiatives.
CJE SeniorLife, in collaboration with the University of Miami, launched its first “E-Care” project in 2003. This project was designed to test the effectiveness of using “Smart Telephone” technology to provide family caregivers with tips and assistance, as well as providing a telephone-based support group that was led by a social worker. This one-year study was a resounding success with much participant satisfaction and notable decreases in caregiver burden and depression.
Because of the accomplishments of the initial E-Care study, CJE SeniorLife saw first-hand the value of taking advantage of today’s technology and has since set forth with a number of initiatives that apply the tools of the 21st Century to help improve the lives of its clients
